Our charter describes the problems that we address, our vision, our structure, our funding and our principles.
morning tears dreams of a world in which children's rights are available to all children of prisoners. All people would consider it their task to create a loving and caring environment for children of prisoners in which respect and understanding overcomes biases and prejudices. Governments of all nations would safeguard the interests of children of prisoners. In the world that morning tears dreams of, children of prisoners would grow up with dignity.
morning tears uses a three-pronged approach to seek actualise its vision:
morning tears takes action to create and nurture a worldwide movement of people who individually and collectively stand up for the rights and interests of children of prisoners.
morning tears acts as a lobby group to governments and state authorities to push them to take responsibility for ensuring all children of prisoners' basic and special needs are guaranteed in their countries. morning tears will act as a watchdog of all governments on behalf of the children of prisoners.
morning tears provides technical assistance to governments that are willing to take responsibility for the children of prisoners, including building and operating children's homes, providing training and policy advice, and engaging in legislation and procedures drafting. morning tears includes, where possible, all actors of civil society and consequently also works with national and international organisations.
morning tears uses high quality minimum standards for its care and protection of children and strives to convince other organizations and institutions to follow the same standards.
morning tears adheres to a number of principles in its development and realization of its mission:
- morning tears is a non-religious organization.
- morning tears is a non-profit organization.
- morning tears is a non-political organization. morning tears believes the protection of children of prisoners should be in hands of state authorities.
- the education and well being of all children in the world are the responsibility of all adults in the world.
- morning tears has the duty to take up the interest of the children, wherever they are.
- morning tears is not only 'for' but also 'of' the children of prisoners.
- morning tears aspires to facilitate the creation of care systems rather than charity.
- morning tears will use and share its acquired expertise to help all children who face similar difficulties as or the same problems as children of convicts.
- morning tears sees the child in a broader context and addresses issues in these contexts that cause difficulties for the children.
